Burnette Shutt & McDaniel’s Shutt honored with SC Equality Founder’s Award
COLUMBIA, SC – Nekki Shutt has received the first ever SC Equality Founder’s Award.
Shutt was a SC Equality founding board member from the inception of the organization in 2002 through 2012. She was also the organization’s first board chair, leading the organization during its first two years.
SC Equality is a statewide non-partisan, non-profit organization whose mission is to secure equal civil and human rights for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender South Carolinians and their families. For more information, see www.scequality.org.
Shutt, a certified specialist in labor and employment law, joined Burnette Shutt & McDaniel in 2000 and became a partner two years later. She’s earned numerous professional distinctions, including the University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Association James L. Petigru Compleat Lawyer Award, Silver Medallion in 2005.
