3 Burnette Shutt & McDaniel attorneys listed in 2019 Best Lawyers in America

Burnette Shutt & McDaniel employment lawyers combined to earn a total of 11 honors in a diverse range of practice areas in the new edition of Best Lawyers in America.

Malissa Burnette, Nekki Shutt and Janet Rhodes won recognition across eight practice areas in the 2019 edition released today.

The list of awards:

  • Burnette: Civil Rights Law; Employment Law – Individuals; Litigation – Labor and Employment; Mediation.
  • Shutt: Commercial Litigation; Litigation – ERISA; Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law; Employment Law – Individuals; Employment Law – Management; Litigation – ERISA; Litigation – Labor and Employment.
  • Rhodes: Litigation – Employment Law.

Though employment law is a common theme, and both Burnette and Shutt are South Carolina Certified Specialists in Employment and Labor Law, the variety of awards points to the firm’s versatility.

Burnette is highlighted as a mediator. Shutt won honors in a total of six practice areas, including commercial litigation.

“People think of us first as employment lawyers or civil rights lawyers, but we do far more than that,” Shutt said.

Other practice areas at the Columbia, SC, law firm include government law, environmental law, administrative law, family law and privacy and data protection.
