Malissa Burnette part of a panel for SC Bar employment law seminar
From standing up to the Klan as a teen to defending South Carolina healthcare and reproductive rights to this day, attorney M. Malissa Burnette has decades of “been there, done that.”
The Burnette Shutt & McDaniel founding partner will share her insights and experiences as part of a panel titled “Wise Beyond Their Years: Secrets to Success” at the SC Bar Employment Law Midyear Seminar next week.
Burnette has spent a career fighting for justice for others in landmark cases. Her work includes litigation that paved the way for marriage equality in South Carolina, opened the doors of state-supported military schools to women, and allowed girls to play contact sports in the state. She was a South Carolina Supreme Court certified employment law specialist for more than 30 years.
The day-long employment law seminar is Friday, May 16. It carries continuing legal education credits for attorneys and paralegals who attend either in person in Columbia or at one of the Bar’s satellite facilities in Charleston or Greenville.
The program includes updates on a range of topics, including new DEI regulations, the latest developments from Washington, DC, and navigating generational barriers in the workplace.
Registration remains open through Thursday, May 15. Details are here: https://www.scbar.org/Seminars/Info/sessionaltcd/S2025_051
