Meredith Brown chairs Cinderella Project Collection Committee for Columbia
For more than two decades, the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division has made magic for students looking for that perfect prom outfit.
This year, Burnette Shutt & McDaniel attorney Meredith Cooper Brown is helping lead that effort as chair of the dress and suit collection committee for the division’s Cinderella Project for Columbia, SC – which has been expanded to include Prince Charming, too. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter and Gamecock Movers have joined as project partners.
“I am so excited to help lead this effort to help make sure nothing stands in the way of a magical prom experience,” Meredith said.
The program accepts donations of gently used formal wear, accessories and shoes. The Cinderella and Prince Charming Project also accepts donations of items from Amazon wish lists, as well gift cards for salons, florists, restaurants and alteration services.
Donations are being collected at eight centers in Columbia, as well as in Aiken, Anderson, Charleston, Greenville, Orangeburg, and Sumter, through February. This includes the Burnette Shutt & McDaniel offices at 912 Lady St. in Columbia. In February and March, students statewide will be able to shop at boutiques in seven cities in South Carolina.
If you have formal wear just hanging out in your closet, now’s a great time to have it cleaned and drop it off on a hanger at a donation center. You’ll help make someone else’s prom a night to remember.
