Pavlicek admitted to practice in U.S. District Court and Fourth Circuit
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA –Jax Pavlicek has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
The Fourth Circuit covers South Carolina, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, handling appeals from U.S. District Courts in those states. Pavlicek previously was admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina
Pavlicek entered private practice after serving as a staff attorney for the South Carolina Court of Appeals. She focuses her practice at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel on privacy issues, appellate work and litigation.
Pavlicek has been involved in litigation contesting South Carolina’s ban on same-sex marriage and the state’s ban on same-sex couples being issued driver’s licenses in their married names. She’s also presented programs about social media and workplace issues.
She is an active volunteer in the legal community, as a partner of the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyer’s Division and of the Law Related Education Committee and Mock Trial Subcommittee.
Pavlicek is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. She earned a bachelor’s in criminal justice at San Diego State University.
