Shutt helps lead Employment Law Essentials CLE for SC Bar
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – New attorneys can jump start an employment law career through a program Burnette Shutt & McDaniel’s Nekki Shutt helped create for the SC Bar.
South Carolina Employment Law Essentials is a day-long continuing legal education program. Shutt and another Columbia employment lawyer developed the CLE, now it its fourth year. They continue to serve as co-organizers, moderators and presenters.
A fictional 50-year-old man fired after 30 years with his company is the CLE’s framework. The veteran employment lawyers use the fiction to walk new attorneys step-by-step through case management.
Shutt, a certified specialist in South Carolina employment law, will cover client intake for plaintiff’s attorneys. She will cover topics such as unemployment claims, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints, litigation and mediation.
Other experienced employment lawyers will address meetings with defendants, the EEOC process, settlements, separation agreements and more.
The SC Bar’s CLE Essentials series covers topics such as criminal law, probate and law firm management. Law school graduates must complete a certain number of the courses before they begin practicing in South Carolina.
Registration is open for Employment Law Essentials, with early-bird pricing available through July 15.
