Shutt honored with 2016 South Carolina Leadership in Law Award
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – South Carolina Lawyers Weekly has selected Nekki Shutt to receive a 2016 South Carolina Leadership in Law Award.
Shutt was among only 30 recipients this year. She and the other honorees will be profiled in the Jan. 18 edition of the magazine and celebrated at an awards dinner March 10 at The Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel in Charleston.
The awards are bestowed annually to South Carolina attorneys who have achieved professional success, contributed to society and made an impact on the legal industry.
Shutt was lead counsel, along with M. Malissa Burnette, in the case that paved the way for same-sex marriage in South Carolina. Columbia Business Monthly recently honored both lawyers as among the Top 50 Most Influential in the Midlands for 2015.
Shutt is a certified South Carolina employment law specialist. Her practice at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel includes matters such as discrimination in the workplace, wrongful termination and employee benefits under federal laws such as ERISA.
