Kathleen McDaniel honored among Influential Women of Law

Congratulations to firm co-founder Kathleen McDaniel, who’s among South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Influential Women of Law 2025 honorees.

It’s only the second year of the awards, but Burnette Shutt & McDaniel has earned honors both times. Last year, firm co-founder Malissa Burnette was among the recipients.

Kathleen brings a unique skillset to her practice, combining deep legal knowledge with a scientific background and experience with government agencies. She’s a skilled litigator who represents clients in a range of matters, including environmental law, government law, and zoning and permitting issues. She also fights for clients before local, state and federal administrative agencies. This includes professional licensing issues before the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.

Peers and national publications have honored her work in a variety of practice areas, including business litigation, regulatory law, and environmental law.

Kathleen also is a key part of the Burnette Shutt & McDaniel legal team fighting to protect healthcare rights in South Carolina. She, along with Burnette and attorney Grant Burnette LeFever, long have represented Planned Parenthood in key cases aimed at preserving reproductive healthcare in South Carolina. This includes challenges over several years to the state’s abortion ban as well as litigation aimed at blocking the state’s attempt to stop Medicaid patients from receiving general healthcare services at Planned Parenthood clinics.

The 2025 Influential Women of Law recipients were recognized in a recent edition of South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. They’ll also be honored with a May 8 reception. Tickets are available here: https://sclawyersweekly.com/event/influential-women-of-law/
