Tommy Gordon becomes new intake process manager at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel

A lifelong Midlands resident who’s long been involved in fights to move law forward, Tommy Gordon has been named intake process manager at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel.

He’ll be the first face potential clients see or the first voice they hear as he guides them through the process of scheduling an initial consultation with an attorney.

He’s familiar with the challenges many clients face in fighting for their rights. Tommy has attended pride marches, protests, and legislative hearings since he was a baby. His grandmother, Harriet Hancock, is a long-time advocate for the LGBTQ+ community who’s often known as the “Mother of SC Pride.” She founded or co-founded four organizations that help make life better for the LGBTQ+ community and their families and for those living with HIV and AIDS. The Columbia LGBTQ+ community center is named in her honor.

Tommy graduated from Irmo’s Dutch Fork High School in 2011 and from the University of South Carolina with a degree in political science only three years later.

He and his wife live in West Columbia with their two daughters. In his spare time, Tommy enjoys music—he’s played in several punk-rock bands in Columbia over the years. He’s also an avid baseball fan.
