Shutt to talk about #MeToo, Pavlicek about data security at Bar seminar
COLUMBIA, SC – Burnette Shutt & McDaniel attorneys Nekki Shutt and Jax Pavlicek will talk about two timely topics today at the South Carolina Bar Employment Law Division Mid-Year Conference.
The annual event updates lawyers on events in their practice area and lets them earn Continuing Legal Education Credits.
Shutt will join three other lawyers in the day’s first session, “The How-Tos on #MeToo”. A certified South Carolina employment law specialist, she often represents clients in a range of workplace discrimination issues. This includes matters such as the ones that set off the #MeToo firestorm last fall.
Pavlicek’s talk on protecting employee data will cap the seminar. A privacy professional as well as an attorney, she’ll discuss the European Union General Data Protection Regulation. The directive includes ground-breaking provisions such as the “right to be forgotten.” It covers anyone who lives in the EU regardless of where the data are processed. This means it will affect U.S. business, particularly those in the travel industry.
The program will be at the Bar Conference Center at 1501 Park St. in Columbia. It also will be web cast in Charleston and Greenville. Learn more at the Bar web site.
