Three attorneys included in Super Lawyers 2016

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Three Burnette Shutt & McDaniel attorneys are highlighted in Super Lawyers 2016, the newest edition of an annual publication recognizing attorneys across more than 70 practice areas.

Super Lawyers selected M. Malissa Burnette, Kathleen McDaniel and Janet Rhodes after a thorough evaluation that assessed nominees based on 12 indicators. The Super Lawyers selection process includes stringent evaluations from attorneys in the same practice areas plus independent research. Only about 5 percent of the nominated attorneys are selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers each year.

Burnette, who was recognized in the practice area of employment litigation, plaintiffs, has been featured in every edition of Super Lawyers since 2008. She has been a Certified Specialist in Employment and Labor Law since 1993.

McDaniel and Rhodes both were recognized as Rising Stars, a category for attorneys who are younger than 40 or who have practiced less than 10 years. Only 2.5 percent of the lawyers nominated are selected.

McDaniel was honored for her work in administrative law. Her practice at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel also includes government law, environmental law, land use and general litigation.

Rhodes was included in employment and labor law. Her practice focuses on discrimination and other employment issues in South Carolina and federal courts, including litigation.
