Burnette Shutt & McDaniel adds to its top-tier honors in ‘Best Law Firms’

Burnette Shutt & McDaniel’s long history of top honors continues in the latest edition of “Best Law Firms of America.”

The firm has ranked in Tier 1 in the Columbia area in two employment law categories every year since its founding, and over the years, it has steadily added additional honors. In the just-released 2023 edition of “Best Law Firms,” its total of top rankings stands at five.

In addition to Tier 1 honors in Litigation – Labor and Employment Law and Employment Law – Individuals, this year Burnette Shutt & McDaniel also achieved the top level in Civil Rights Law, Litigation – ERISA, and Mediation.

“We’re thrilled to be honored so consistently in areas such as employment law and civil rights that are crucial in our goal of moving law forward,” firm co-founder Nekki Shutt said. “We’re also excited at the wide variety of honors that truly speaks to the versatility of the attorneys at this firm.”

In addition to the Tier 1 rankings, the new edition also highlights Burnette Shutt & McDaniel’s performance in five other practice areas: Commercial Litigation, Employment Benefits (ERISA) Law, Employment Law – Management, Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs, Commercial Litigation, and Health Care Law.

To be included in “Best Law Firms,” at least one of the firm’s attorneys must be honored in the same year’s edition of “Best Lawyers in America.”

Burnette Shutt & McDaniel qualified when seven of its attorneys were recognized in the 2023 edition of “Best Lawyers” and its companion piece, “Ones to Watch.” Shutt led the way with her third Lawyer of the Year Award, this one for Employee Benefits (ERISA) for the Columbia area. She earned nine other honors as well.

Malissa Burnette, Jack E. Cohoon, Stuart Andrews, Katherine Myers, Grant Burnette LeFever and Sarah J.M. Cox also earned recognition in the peer-reviewed publications.
