McDaniel chosen for South Carolina Bar’s Leadership Academy

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Kathleen McDaniel has been selected for the South Carolina Bar’s 2013 Leadership Academy.

The program, which lasts for six months, helps young attorneys further hone their legal skills and networks, while also educating them about community issues. They emerge as leaders better positioned to give back to their profession and their communities, while at the same time better serving their clients.

McDaniel is active in a number of community efforts. She’s served with the Peace Corps in the Philippines and participated in a Rotary International Group Study Exchange in India. She’s also a regular volunteer for HELP, a legal program for the homeless. She was honored in 2012 with the Richland County Bar’s Civic Star Award.

McDaniel’s practice at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel includes litigation and government issues. She was honored locally in the fall for her work in environmental law.
