Join our attorneys at SC Bar Convention CLEs

Burnette Shutt & McDaniel will be out in full force at the SC Bar State Convention Jan. 18- 21 in Charleston, with two of our attorneys presenting during continuing legal education seminars.

  • Founding partner Nekki Shutt will discuss the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 during the Employment and Labor Law Section CLE at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19. Nekki’s practice includes Title VII discrimination cases involving hiring, pay, promotions, training, and benefits.
  • Attorney Stuart Andrews will join two other attorneys for a panel discussion about pretrial detention and legal issues at local detention facilities during the Civil Rights Law Section CLE at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20. Stuart is a key part of the legal team, along with other Burnette Shutt & McDaniel attorneys, that’s suing to end inhumane conditions at Richland County’s Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Space remains available in the programs, which both earn participants three CLE credits.

Additionally, Nekki serves on the Bar Board of Governors as secretary. Immediate Past President Hagood Tighe appointed her to the board in 2022. A certified specialist in South Carolina employment law, she’s previously served as chair of the Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Section and was a founding chair of the Bar’s Civil Rights Section.
