Shutt heads SC Bar Employment and Labor Law Section

Nekki Shutt has been elected to chair the South Carolina Bar’s Section on Employment and Labor Law for 2010.

The 433-member Employment and Labor Law Section serves as a forum for all segments of the employment bar, allowing partners to review and comment on regulatory policy and procedure as well as on legislative initiatives. The section sponsors continuing legal education programs throughout the year and also publishes newsletters and electronic mailing lists that help keep partners informed.

As chair, Shutt will lead the section’s efforts to make sure all members are up-to-date about changes in labor and employment law.

Shutt, who previously served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She’s been a member of the Bar section’s executive committee since 2006.

She authored the ERISA chapters in the Labor and Employment Law for South Carolina Lawyers, Third Edition, 2007 and the upcoming Fourth Edition. Shutt also is the author of a chapter on employment law for Paralegal Survival Guide, to be published this year by South Carolina Bar.
