Join us at the South Carolina State Bar Convention

Burnette Shutt & McDaniel is excited that our attorneys are playing important roles during next week’s South Carolina Bar Convention.

Partner Jack Cohoon is this year’s SC Bar Employment Law Section Continuing Legal Education planner. This includes the section’s CLE during the convention. The program is Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 a.m. Topics include workplace investigations and the U.S. Supreme Court Dobbs decision’s impact on employer benefits plans.

The Burnette Shutt & McDaniel team of co-founders Malissa Burnette and Kathleen McDaniel and attorney Grant LeFever will discuss abortion rights during the Civil Rights Law Section CLE. Titled “The United States Supreme Court and the Future of Civil Liberties in America,” the program is from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday.

Burnette, McDaniel and LeFever long have been part of the legal team fighting for reproductive rights in South Carolina. This includes the recent case that resulted in the state Supreme Court throwing out the South Carolina abortion ban.

Firm co-founder Nekki Shutt is on the SC Bar’s Board of Governors, serving as an at-large member.

Additionally, the firm is a sponsor of the four-day convention.

The SC Bar convention begins Thursday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The event usually draws more than 1,000 attorneys, law students, paralegals and legal assistants.

Walk-in registration will be available.
